Runner-up Klarisse De Guzman was still trending on Twitter the morning after the finale of The Voice Of The Philippines. Her supporters were obviously sad and couldn’t believe she lost over the 43-year-old artist Mitoy Yonting.
Votes were reset to zero after the Top 2 was announced Sunday night. The voting lines were opened anew, this time only for Klarisse and Mitoy.
Klarisse proceeded to sing Leo Valdez’s Magsimula Ka which could have been a very apt winning song for the 21-year-old music student.
Mitoy followed with a powerful and fun (as always) performance of The Beatles’ Help.
In the end Mitoy got 57.65% of the final votes, with 42.35% going to Klarisse.
It could be that Mitoy’s supporters were more ready than Klarisse’s. As we all know, the Popsters (fans of Klarisse’s coach Sarah Geronimo) were supporting the young artist. Perhaps they didn’t know (just like most of us) that the votes were going to be reset so they weren’t ready?
Meanwhile, I’m sure there would be a lot going for Klarisse after the show. She now has the Klangsters (her fans) who are tweeting for her and making her name trend hours after the competition.
Futhermore, Sarah promised to help her shine. The popstar loves her, especially that they were together in Star For A Night, the competition won by Sarah, paving the way for her superstardom.
