‘The Voice PH’ Top 8 - semi-finals results #VoicePHTop8

The second part of the semi-finals of The Voice Of The Philippines happened on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila. The public votes that the artists got during their Saturday performances was added to what they got Sunday night, plus the scores they got from the judges.

First to perform was Team Lea’s Mitoy Yonting who sang Power Of Love. Dedicated to his wife, the singer obviously tried to give a serious performance but honestly, I couldn’t get his comical face from his previous performances out of my mind. Coach Sarah said that Mitoy always challenges himself with his song choices, while Coach Lea said she really felt his rendition because she knows the story why he chose the song.

Radha Tinsay sang next with The Beatles’ Let It Be. She dedicated it to her late aunt who had down syndrome. Coach Bamboo described Radha’s performance as “amazing,” while Coach Lea described it as “perfection.”

Team Bamboo was next and Myk Perez was the first to perform. He chose the upbeat Baby, I Love Your Way. His “Sarah, I love your way” line got the crowd cheering and made the Popstar Princess give him a standing ovation. Coach Apl said Myk is just as good without a guitar and foresees him having an acoustic album.

Paolo Onesa

Paolo Onesa followed with a big band version of Elesi. He performed with a bunch of dancers and he seemed more relaxed on stage this time. Coach Lea described the performance as “gangbuster” and confessed that she really enjoyed watching Paolo on stage. “Ang gwapo mong pakinggan,” she added.

Team Sarah’s powerhouse singers performed next, starting off with Morrisette Amon. She sang her rendition of Jessie J’s Who You Are and she really delivered. Coach Apl described her voice as nice and angelic and predicted that she will be a star in the future. Coach Sarah, on the other hand said that Morrisette is already “a star whatever happens.”

Another stellar performance was delivered by Klarisse De Guzman with To Love Somebody. Coach Bamboo described her as excellent and versatile and he hopes she would release an album with 10 more of that kind of songs.

Coach Sarah couldn’t help but tear up with Klarisse’s performance. She said her fellow Star For A Night contestant proved that it’s now her time to shine.

Thor Dulay was first to showcase his talent for Team Apl with Climb Every Mountain which he dedicated to struggling musicians like himself. Coach Sarah commended not only his vocal abilities but also his humility. Coach Apl was so proud and said that any song Thor sings becomes his own.

Janice Javier was the last to perform with Imagine. Coach Lea said Janice brought them all to church with that performance. Coach Apl said she succeeded and did an amazing job.
