A fire hit the basement of GMA Network building on Sunday night, September 29, 2013, affecting the television network’s operations.
The fire lasted or about 30 minutes, the firemen putting out the blaze at around 9:45 PM.
No one was reportedly harmed as the staff was evacuated immediately when smoke was seen coming out of the driveway near Timog Avenue.
On Monday morning, the network released a statement about the incident through GMA-7’s corporate communications consultant, Butch Raquel.
Here’s the official statement:
A fire broke out last night at teh substation located at the basement of GMA Network Center. We are currently assessing the damage that has temporarily affected our operations. We assure our viewers and the public that measures are being taken to restore normal operations at the soonest possible time. Thank you.
