Actress Megan Young from the Philippines was crowned Miss World 2013 in Indonesia on Saturday, September 28, 2013. She bested 126 other equally beautiful candidates from around the globe.
Megan made history for being the first-ever Filipino to win the Miss World pageant. She was an early favorite but she wasn’t spared from controversies as her topless photos in a magazine caused a stir a day before the pageant.
She also won 1st place in the Top Model challenge event and placed 5th in Beach Fashion and 4th in Multimedia.
Meanwhile, runners-up include Miss France (2nd place) and Miss Ghana (3rd place).
Top 6 also included Brazil, Spain and Gibraltar, who won People’s Choice and became an automatic finalist.
Top 10 also had Australia, Nepal, England, Indonesia and Jamaica.
Miss Talent went to Indonesia, Beach Fashion was Brazil, Multimedia was India, Miss Sports was Netherlands, and Beauty With A Purpose was Nepal.
The ceremony was hosted by Myleene Klass, Kamal Ibrahim, Daniel Mananta and Amanda. The pageant was held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Indonesia.
