Coco Martin’s “MMK” episode wins at 7th Seoul International Drama Awards

Maalaala Mo Kaya’s ‘Kamao’ episode which starred Coco Martin as a war freak underground boxer recently bagged the special prize at the recently-concluded 7th Seoul International Drama Awards (2012).

MMK business head Malou Santos said that they dedicate this recognition to Filipino people whose stories are the inspiration of the longest-running drama anthology in Asia.

“We share this honor to the Filipino people who continue to awe us with their stories of hope and resilience,” shared Malou. “This is also a tribute not only to the artistry of the people behind MMK but more so to the nobility and strength of the ordinary people whose life stories inspire us the most.”

With an international title Remembering: Fist, the episode was directed by Dado Lumibao and was based on a true story. The script was written by Benson Logronio and researched by Alex Martin.

Along with Coco in the episode were Jodi Sta. Maria, Philip Nolasco, BJ Forbes, Celine Lim, Veyda Innoval, Michael Roy Jornales, Carlos Morales, Levi Ignacio, Andrei Garcia, Aleck Bovick, and Mike Lloren.

ABS-CBN re-aired the episode on September 1, 2012.

Aside from this episode, however, another one starred by Sharlene San Pedro is nominated at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prize 2012.

The episode titled ‘T-Shirt’ is competing for Television Special Jury Prize category with entries from countries like Bhutan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka. ABS-CBN is the sole representative of the country at at the ABU Prize 2012.
