Anne Curtis and Gerald Anderson were among the celebrities that were named National Peace Ambassadors by Malacañang.
President Benigno Aquino III personally anointed several celebrities on Friday, September 14, 2012, in Malacañang during the launch of “I Am For Peace” campaign.
Aside from Anne and Gerald, other stars who took the oath to promote peace include Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga lead actor Mikael Daez, musicians Noel Cabangon, Ebe Dancel and Gloc-9, Black Eyed Peas Pinoy member Apl.de.Ap, fashion designers JC Buendia and Arnold Galang, members of the Philippine Azkals, TV celebrity Rovilson Fernandez, Moro artist Datu Khomeini Bansuan, Kapamilya stars Christian Bautista, Igi Boy Flores, Kiray Celis and Megan Young, Epy Quizon and Ramon Bautista.
Also anointed but not present due to prior engagements were Karylle and Sam Concepcion (who both walked the runway of Bench Universe 2012 last night), Kapatid star Derek Ramsay, and Twitter sensation Kimpoy Feliciano.
“I Am For Peace” campaign is a project of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).
During his speech, PNoy encourage Filipinos to support peace efforts. He, however, noted that the country holds the world’s longest-running communist insurgency.
The celebrities vowed to campaign for peace in their respective fields. Apl.de.Ap, for one said he would promote peace through his music, while Anne wanted to use social media and be a good example to influence her followers.
