Yong belongs to a family of 17 children. His dad has already passed away and his mom is still suffering from a mild stroke. They had never been complete before, and thanks to Big Brother during the early part of the reality show's teen edition that he made it possible to fly Yong's mom and all his siblings to Manila to give them a chance to be complete for once.
Before that PBB moment, they have never been all in one place at one time and it's his mom's wish for them all to be reunited. The moment would have been better, though, if his dad was still alive.
The 17-year-old housemate who is dubbed as the "Pag-a-Son ng Angkan ng Zamboanga" related how he helped his family in his own little way even when he was still studying; how he would do odd jobs for little money which he would all give to his mom.
When asked what makes him happy as a teenager, he said he just likes getting reunited with all his siblings and his mom.
"'Yong bagay po na buo po kaming magpapamilya na nagsasama-sama po," he told the teary-eyed host Karla Estrada. "Kahit mahirap man po kami, basta 'yong family ko po masaya po kaming lahat. ['Yong] kasama ko po silang buong gabi, buong araw, kahit po saan magpunta."
Having realized the value of family at a young age, Yong's answer perhaps made the viewers of the morning show realize that some of the things most of us neglect mean so big to others. He wanted to win so he could help his family, but it's not all about the money. What makes him really happy is being together with them.
