The five groups have been named during the middle rounds of "Pinoy Boyband Superstar" on Sunday, October 23, 2016. The groups consisting of five members each will perform in front of the judges and from there, those that will move on to the live shows will be determined.
The first group that was named included Joao Constancia, Luigi D'Avola, Henz Villaraiz, Mark Oblea and Joshua Manio. They will be performing the song "Sukob Na" by Neocolurs next week.
The second group was composed of Gabriel Umali, Markus Paterson, Isaiah Tiglao, Wilbert Rosalyn and Russel Reyes, who was among the three "English-ers" during the Saturday night episode that was called back in front of the judges so they could find out if his Tagalog has improved. Group 2 will be perform Nsync's "This I Promise You" next week.
Niel Murillo, Allen Cecilio, Keanno Dela Cruz, Raymond Mabute, and Raynald Simon were part of the third group. They were given the Boyzone song "Love Me For A Reason" to perform next week.
The fourth group consisted of Angelo Nabor, Tony Labrusca, Jimsen Jison, Ford Valencia and Jindric Macapagal. Angelo is a strong contender when it comes to singing voice and looks, and Tony made quite a noise when his audition was aired because he was reunited with his biological father, actor Boom Labrusca. Will they be able to give justice to Jeremiah's "Nanghihiyang" next week?
The first four groups consisted of the top 20 contestants chosen by the judges from among the 40 hopefuls that passed the auditions. The bottom 20, meanwhile, were divided into two groups and were given their last chance to perform and prove their worth.
From the Group A's performance of Backstreet Boys' "Quit Playing Games," only Guion Antonio and the Twinkabogables got through and became members of the fifth group.
Miko Juarez, Tristan Ramirez and James Ryan Cesena, meanwhile, made it from Group B's "As Long As You Love Me" (also by Backstreet Boys) performance.
According to judge Yeng Constantino, Miko was a real standout even with the two groups from the bottom twenty were combined. All four judges picked him as the standout after their group's performance, by the way.
The fifth group will be performing Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" next week.
