Star Cinema is going to remake Magic Temple and is going to make it into five movies starring the love team of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
It was revealed by the film production company’s managing director Malou N. Santos in an interview with Manila Bulletin published on Sunday, October 6, 2013.
The lady executive said that they are “doing a remake of the Magic Temple with Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.”
She also added that the movie will feature new special effects and they are thinking of making it into five series of movies.
“Bagong special effects din ang gagawin. In fact, we’re thinking of doing a franchise of Magic Temple na limang pelikula. ‘Pag may may Magic Temple, magkakaroon ng “Magic City,” etc. So five stories na tuloy-tuloy,” she said.
The tandem of Kathryn and Daniel has already been proven on television. Their previous series, Princess And I, was a top-rater, and their current primetime romantic-comedy, Got To Believe, is among the most-watched in the country.
Their Must Be… Love launching movie is (as of this posting) the 6th highest-grossing Filipino movie of 2013 with P60.7 million gross.
The fantasy theme of the Magic Temple movie will best fit the tandem. They are packaged as young and lively, with a positive vibe that seems to radiate from their presence.
The original movie, also produced by Star Cinema, was starred by young stars that include Jason Salcedo, Junell Hernando, Marc Solis and Anna Larrucea. It was an entry to the 1996 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and won 6 awards.
The question is: Will the KathNiel Magic Temple movies be MMFF entries as well? Now that would be 5 consecutive MMFFs if ever.
