Cebu, Bohol hit by magnitude 7.2 earthquake (PHOTOS)

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit Bohol and Cebu on Tuesday morning, October 15, 2013.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded the earthquake at exactly 8:12:31 AM, with epicenter located 2 kilometers (km) southeast of Carmen, Bohol.

The quake had a depth of 33 km and was tectonic in origin. It was also felt in the following areas:

Intensity 6 - Hinigaran, Negros Occidental
Intensity 5 - Iloilo City
Intensity 4 - Masbate City
Intensity 3 - Davao City

A series of aftershocks was also felt, the most significant of which was a magnitude 4.8 at 12:22 PM.

The amount of damages caused by the magnitude 7.2 earthquake has yet to be determined but photos have already been uploaded on Twitter showing cracks on different buildings where the earthquake was felt.
