COA chair pans Sen. Jinggoy Estrada’s attacks

Commission on Audit (COA) Chairperson Ma. Grace Pulido-Tan said she does not mind Sen. Jinggoy Estrada’s attacks against her following the release of COA’s investigation results in the P10 billion pork barrel scam that tagged the Senator.

In an interview with Anthony Taberna for Tapatan Ni Tunying this Thursday (Oct 24), Tan said, “He’s in a hard situation so maybe he was just pissed. Maybe he had to turn his anger on someone and that was me. It comes with my job.”

Since Tan took her post, she has implemented extensive reforms on how the agency conducts its audits.

“Many people are opposing the reform we are implementing because it impedes them from doing corruption,” said Tan, who is determined to fight rampant corruption in COA where she claims to witness different forms of corruption.

Meanwhile, Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Kim Jacinto-Henares remains unfazed in implementing the agency’s aggressive name-and-shame campaign against tax evaders.

“We really want to personally send someone to jail,” she said.

When asked if there have been attempts to bribe her, Henares said, “Those who want to bribe will always consider first if they can succeed. And if they think they can’t, of course they will not attempt to,” she explained.

Both Tan and Henares exude toughness on their respective jobs, but how different are they at home? Find out as they also talk about their personal lives in the episode.

Don’t miss Tapatan ni Tunying (TNT) this Thursday (Oct 24), 4:45 PM on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold.
