Gabby Concepcion has been tapped to play the role of Eduardo V. Manalo, Iglesia Ni Cristo’s executive minister, after Bong Revilla backed out of the religion’s centennial movie, Ang Huling Sugo (The Last Messenger).
Revilla’s involvement in the pork barrel scandal prompted him to back out of the project for fear that he might get criticized when he plays a religious leader.
His wife Lani Mercado, who was supposed to play Manalo’s wife in the movie, also asked to be removed from the cast, although there’s no news yet on who will replace her.
Directed by Tikoy Aguiluz, the said movie was announced last year. It will also star Richard Gomez as Felix Manalo (INC founder) and Albert Martinez as Eraño Manalo, who took leadership in 1950.
