The Game 3 of UAAP Season 76 men's basketball finals between the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers and De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers happened at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, October 12, 2013.
The first game on Oct. 2 was won by UST, 73-72, while the second one that happpened last Oct. 5 was won by DLSU, 77-70. Both games were held at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
In Game 3, the UST Growling Tigers led the scores during the first half of the game. Cheered on by the Thomasians who especially wore yellow to show their support, UST was ahead by 2 points at the end of 1st quarter, 18-16.
The gap became bigger by the end of 2nd quarter. UST led DLSU by 8, 32-24.
During the 3rd Quarter, the gap went as far as 15 points in favor of the UST, but DLSU tried to bounce back. At the end of Q3, UST was only leading by 1 point, 48-47.
During the 4th Quarter, the score tied several times and ended at 65 all. A 5-minute overtime was given, giving DLSU a chance to get that winning 2-point lead. Game ended 71-69 in favor of DLSU.
The game was made more exciting as the Teng brothers competed against each other - Jeron Teng was with DLSU while his older brother Jeric played for UST. Jeron was hailed as the season's MVP.
