DNS Changer malware prevents computers from accessing internet on July 9

DNS Changer malware, a computer virus that infects both Windows and Mac, may prevent you from going online on July 9, 2012.

Everyone is advised to check their computers for possible DNS Changer infection before July 9.

How to know if you are infected with the DNS Changer Malware? There are sites that can check your configuration and will tell you if you have the virus or not. For one, go to www.dns-ok.us.

If you get an image with a green background, you are free from the virus. A red background, however, says otherwise.

If you are infected, softwares reported that can successfully get rid of virus include Hitman Pro (32bit and 64bit versions), Kaspersky Labs TDSSKiller, McAfee Stinger, Microsoft Windows Defender Offline, Microsoft Safety Scanner, Norton Power Eraser, Trend Micro Housecall, MacScan and Avira’s DNS Repair-Tool.

Just remember to get rid of the virus before July 9.
