Peter Jackson gives a tour of “The Hobbit” studios

Peter Jackson, director of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, takes us around the set of the movie in his latest video blog (vlog).

The vlog takes us to different departments of the studio, from the Trailer Park where the cast stays to the Scale Doubles department.

The appearance of Orlando Bloom, who plays Legolas, in the vlog actually made me smile.

Hitting theaters on December 14, 2012 (U.S.), The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is the first part of Jackson's adaptation of the Tolkien masterpiece. The story takes place before the time the Lord of the Rings happens.

Aside from Orlando Bloom, the movie also stars Elijah Wood, Martin Freeman, Ian Holm, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Fry, Christopher Lee, Evangeline Lilly and Richard Armitage.
