The 75th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) will unfurl on July 14 but the games aren’t the only exciting feature of this year’s grand event. UAAP’s recent partnership with Havaianas has spurred the launch of the much-awaited Limited Edition Havaianas + UAAP Collection, with styles which represent each of the eight universities under UAAP.
To put more vibrancy in the exciting league, Havaianas, now on its 50th year, partnered up with UAAP and ABS-CBN Licensing to celebrate 75 years of sports and camaraderie.
“We aim not only to exemplify good sportsmanship but also to promote camaraderie among the student athletes, our fans, and our alumni. With the Limited Edition Havaianas + UAAP Collection, this partnership will yet again help bring each and every one of the UAAP supporters the chance to take home a part of the experience and be closer to the action everywhere they go,” said ABS-CBN Sports Licensing Officer, Arnie Hernandez.
One athlete coming from the eight universities attended the “sealing of partnership” event held at the 14th floor of ABS-CBN.
The event showcased the exclusive designs that Havaianas created for each school; the creative representations of the universities were so intricately pieced from the teams’ different symbols to their colors.
“It’s fun. I love the new designs. I hope these flip-flops would be distributed soon,” said Jackie Junio, swimmer and member of UP’s champion team.
The UAAP teams are identified through their colors and these flip-flops will allow the athletes and the students to wear their school colors with pride. The university themed Limited Edition Havaianas + UAAP Collection would certainly complete the athletes’ ensemble from head to toe.
Jeric Fortuna, graduating student of the University of Santo Tomas and point guard of the varsity basketball team said, “I feel lucky I got the chance to wear a pair of UST themed flip-flops in UAAP just in time before I graduate.”
The Limited Edition Havaianas + UAAP Collection is a way of celebrating the students’ school spirit and identifying themselves with their alma mater. Now, they don’t only have that school spirit burning in their hearts as their soles are representing that same fervor.
The Limited Edition Havaianas + UAAP Collection will be in stores July 6, 2012 and will be available exclusively at All Flip-Flops Alabang Town Center, All Flip-Flops Bonifacio High Street, All Flip-Flops Glorietta 3, All Flip-Flops Greenbelt 5, All Flip-Flops SM City North EDSA Annex, Flip-Flops SM Mall of Asia, All Flip-Flops SM Marikina, All Flip-Flops SM Megamall, All Flip-Flops Robinsons Place Ermita, All Flip-Flops Trinoma, Complex Eastwood Mall, Complex Festival Mall, Rustan’s Alabang Town Center, Rustan’s Gateway, Rustan’s Makati, and Rustan’s Shangri-la Plaza Mall.
The UAAP is considered as the most prestigious collegiate sports league in the Philippines and breeds successful professional athletes, celebrities, and individuals. UAAP president Nilo Ocampo of host National University said that they are looking forward to the season.
