Katie Holmes has filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, her husband of almost 6 years.
Both camps confirmed the news with Cruise’s rep saying that the actor “is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children.”
TMZ reported that Holmes wants full custody of their only child, 6-year-old Suri Cruise.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” New Jersey divorce attorney Jonathan Wolfe said. “Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest.”
The two married in November 2006. It was Holme’s first marriage while it was the third for Cruise. He married Mimi Rogers in 1987 and got divorced in 1990, the same year he married his second wife Nicole Kidman. He had two adopted kids with Kidman, who both got under his custody when they divorced in 2001.
