Mario O’Hara dies at 68

Mario O’Hara succumbed to leukemia on Tuesday morning. He was 68.

The award-winning director, actor, movie producer and playwright passed away at the San Juan De Dios Hospital due to acute leukemia on June 26, only 11 days after he was admitted for treatment.

O’Hara was known for writing the script of Lino Brocka’s Tinimbang Ka Nguni’t Kulang (1974), as well as for directing the movies Bakit Bughaw Ang Langit, Kastilyong Buhangin, Bulaklak Ng City Jail, Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos, Babae Sa Breakwater and Ang Paglilitis Ni Andres Bonifacio among others.

Meanwhile, one of his latest projects was the TV5 mini-series Sa Ngalan Ng Ina (2011) which starred Nora Aunor.

Details of his funeral are yet to be announced.
