Benjamin Alves says it’s an advantage to be Piolo Pascual’s nephew

Benjamin Alves revealed that he has 3 movies and a soap opera on the line during his guesting at Showbiz Central on June 24.

Benjamin recently signed a contract with GMA-7 and people became more interested in him than, perhaps, other newcomers because he is the nephew of Piolo Pascual.

“You get noticed faster,” he admitted on being the nephew of a very popular actor, also saying that it’s more an advantage than a disadvantage.

But because of his uncle, people also expect more from him. “’Yong expectations po nila is a challenge and I welcome it,” he told Jennylyn Mercado, one of the hosts of the showbiz-oriented show. “We’re doing workshops here in GMA under Direk Maryo J. De Los Reyes so I’ll be prepared.”

One of his three upcoming movies is Coño Problems which is GMA Films’ entry to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival. The movie is reported to also star Aljur Abrenica, Solenn Heussaff, Isabelle Daza, Bianca King and Mikael Daez.

Benjamin’s soap, on the other hand, will drop in August but he refused to reveal more details. “Secret pa,” he said, smiling.

Before becoming a Kapuso, though, he had been part-time modeling using the name Vince Saldaña, reason why he has a lot of photos (some shirtless) on the internet.

He graduated summa cum laude with an English Literature degree in Guam. He wanted to have a masters degree but he decided to go full time in showbiz first since the opportunity was already there.

During the interview, he revealed that he was supposed to do a movie with Jennylyn but it didn’t materialize. He, though, hopes to do a movie wit her in the future.

Saying his greatest asset is his passion about acting, he hopes to showcase his talents with the projects he’s being given. And while he is now a regular host of Party Pilipinas, where he was launched as a new Kapuso a few hours before the interview happened, he also hopes to sing and dance given the right workshop.

The 5’ 10” promising actor said his abs is the part of his body that he considers the sexiest, plus his eyes is also one of his assets. “I was told I have expressive eyes.”

And for the fangirls that will go gaga over Benjamin, he revealed that he likes girls with nice eyes, lips and voice.
