Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire Jr. won against the Puerto Rican boxer Wilfredo "Papito" Vazquez Jr. in the fight held on February 4, 2012 at the 65,000-seater Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The Filipino pride, who Emanuel Steward has described as possibly the best fighter he has ever seen, is now the WBO Super Bantamweight Champion, a title that once belonged to Vazquez Jr. before he failed to defend it against Mexican Jorge Arce last year.
The Donaire vs Vazquez Jr. was scored 115-112 Vazquez, 117-110 Donaire, 117-110 Donaire.
Donaire had been ranked as the fourth best pound-for-pound boxer in the world behind Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Sergio Martinez. After this win, I'm quite sure he'd move up a notch and become third.
