Lea Salonga said she was misunderstood when she recently talked about not wanting to go to a concert of singers who are out-of-tune.
The international singer, who is James Ingram's guest in his two-night concerts here in the Philippines, said she did not mean to offend Anne Curtis who people say was among the subject of Lea's statement.
Anne, who is self-confessed out-of-tune and whose singing career started out as part of a joke, recently held a very successful concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum that was, at that time, full to the brim.
"I'm sorry that it came across that way but that was not the intent with which I said that," Lea told ABS-CBN News' Ginger Conejero.
She also said that she's fond of Anne. "I can't say anything bad about her because she's one of the sweetest people in this business and genuinely entertaining and gorgeous, beautiful and a lovely, lovely spirit."
Anne Curtis, on the other hand, didn't think Lea insulted her. When asked with questions regarding the issue, the It's Showtime host pleaded to not talk about it anymore.
"Can we please not talk about it," she told the entertainment press, "because I think it's also disrespectful to Ate Lea because she already said her piece so I think it's better if we just don't talk about it na lang kasi she was just misunderstood."
After Araneta, Anne is set to bring the concert to different parts of the country. In a Twitter message during her birthday, February 17th, she thanked everyone who greeted her with the message:
Thank you for all the love & support! Magkamali man o ako hindi. Off key o.. well off key naman talaga ako. Salamat at d nyo ako iniiwan.
