The controversial Al Galang denied that he and Dr. Vicki Belo are in a romantic relationship right now. He, though, admitted during his live guesting in The Buzz this afternoon that the two of them had a harmless flirting going on in the past.
He became the talk of the town when his name popped up in Hayden Kho’s tweet which had been immediately deleted. Hayden’s series of tweets on February 21 implied that Al was the reason why he and Vicki separated. Hayden even posted a photo of the “friendly letter” that Al gave Vicki last year where the salutation read “Baby.” (Read the transcript of the letter here.)
Although he denied the rumors that there’s something going on between him and Vicki, Al admitted in The Buzz that what Hayden uploaded on Twitter was indeed a photo of his letter to Vicki. It was written, too, in his very own handwriting.
“I did write that in a sort of a fun kind of quest letter thing,” Al said. “Back then we had some flirting going on. You know, very no malice… wala, walang malice, walang intention…
“We kind of did it as sort of a joke.
“I was going to the States and the joke was that… she’s like ‘You gonna miss me?’ and I was like ‘Ahh… Sure, of course’ and she was like ‘Prove it.’
“It was a weird mood sort of thing.”
Boy Abunda pointed out, though, that the content of the letter was “serious flirtation.” Al answered him with, “Sometimes I can be kind of a flirt.”
But has Vicki ever reciprocated his flirting? “No, no. Not at all,” Al quickly answered. “Vicki was very much, has always been a very good girlfriend to Hayden and she remained consistent throughout, so it isn’t like there was a reaction or anything from her with that letter.”
The Bikram yoga instructor said that he had been doing yoga for eight years now and had been a teacher for six years. He came to the Philippines to introduce yoga but several opportunities came his way before he was able to put up his own studio. He joined Mossimo Biki Summit, became a television commercial model and was even a DJ at some point.
Al narrated that it was Crystal Henares, Vicki’s daughter, whom he first met in his yoga studio in Greenhills. He didn’t meet Vicki through her daughter, though. The two of them met through Vicki’s friend who hires Al for private yoga lessons. Vicki eventually hired him for private yoga lessons as well.
Is it true that he’s just waiting for things to simmer down to pursue Vicki?
"I’m not waiting for it… I’m just like you know I go with things as they are. I’m not affected by all of this. Go with the flow, but if for something down the line I wound… I wouldn’t rule it out at all… you know if pwede tayo, you know, pwede as us.”
And to the question if he is (or would he consider) courting Vicki now that she’s single, Al gave a very straightforward answer.
“At present no I’m not because she’s single but not ready to mingle. Would I? Sure, in theory, I could because she’s the kind of girl that I would like, you know. Again, she’s a complete package of anything a guy would want.”
When asked to give a message to Vicki, Al said, “We got your back. Everybody kind of wants the best for her. You know, she’s loved by the nation and I just want her to heal because I know she got pain you could hear it in her voice, so we wanna fix that pain.”
To Hayden, “I’m excited for Hayden because I don’t think people give him enough credit these days that he’s so talented, he’s so good looking, and he’s intelligent. The guy is a doctor for God’s sakes! So he’s got a lot going for him and after all this kind of settles down I could see his career really taking off whether it’s in any industry that he chooses.”
Does he think the relationship of Hayden and Vicki is over?
“I think so and I hope so, only because I think she’d be better off as an independent woman without any messes going on.
“I hope she can fly.
“I think drama is not good and they’ve just been through too much.”
Is he a shoulder to cry on?
“No. She hasn’t pulled that card yet. I think she has better friends to lean on.”
But is he a friend?
“I’m there talaga, and I always will be. She knows that.”
