We've seen Pokwang do drama before in Maalaala Mo Kaya, but this is the first time the comedienne-host does a full drama with a role that is reminiscent of Vilma Santos' role in the 2000 movie Anak.

In A Mother's Story, Pokwang plays the role of Medy, an illegal OFW in the U.S. who will do anything to earn a living for her family. She gets maltreated by her employers but that didn't make her lose hope. She comes back to the Philippines after seven long years to find out that her youngest does not even know who she is, while her son has grown to have several issues with his mother.

Playing the role of Medy's son is Rayver Cruz while Xyriel Manabat is the daughter who doesn't know her.

Also in the cast are Daria Ramirez, Beth Tamayo, Noni Buencamino, Ana Capri, Jaime Fabregas, Aaron Junatas and K Brosas, with the special participation of Atty. Michael J. Garfinkel.

A Mother's Story is directed by John Lazatin and was produced by The Filipino Channel (TFC). Distributed by ABS-CBN International and Star Cinema, it has already been shown in some cities abroad for the Filipino OFWs. It will be shown in Philippine theaters on January 8, 2012.
