"Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank" fails to make it in Oscars Best Foreign Language Film category

The Eugene Domingo-starrer Ang Babae sa Septic Tank failed to make it in the shortlist for the 84th Academy Awards 2012 Oscars' Best Foreign Language Film. The movie was included in the sixty-three titles from around the world that had originally qualified in the category.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced last Wednesday the nine foreign movies that made it to the list. In alphabetical order by country, the qualified movies were:

  • Belgium, Michael R. Roskam's Bullhead
  • Canada, Philippe Falardeau’s Monsieur Lazhar
  • Denmark, Ole Christian Madsen's SuperClasico
  • Germany, Wim WendersPina
  • Iran, Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation
  • Israel, Joseph Cedar’s Footnote
  • Morocco, Roschdy Zem’s Omar Killed Me
  • Poland, Agnieszka Holland’s In Darkness
  • Taiwan, Wei Te-sheng’s Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale

Nominations will be announced live on January 24, 5:30 AM PT, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The 84th Oscars will be presented on February 26 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and will be televised live by ABC. It will be aired via satellite in the Philippines by ABS-CBN on the morning of February 27.
