Brandon Roy, an All-Star guard, told Portland about his plans to retire. The 27-year-old basketball superstar said it is due to the knee problems he has been experiencing for the past two seasons. He lacks cartilage between the bones in both knees.
Now that's troublesome especially for someone who plays basketball for a living.
Last Monday, Trail Blazers president Larry Miller, Coach Nate McMillan and acting general manager Chad Buchanan held a news conference and said that Brandon Roy was feeling good and will still be in the team.
But a medical evaluation last Thursday told Brandon he couldn't play anymore.
Members of the Trail Blazers were informed of the news Friday morning, just when they were about to have their first practice of training camp. Brandon didn't attend the said practice anymore.
NBA's Tim Frank, though, said that Brandon hasn't filed any formal retirement yet with the league.
