Mr. Gay South Africa Francois Nel was proclaimed Mr. Gay World 2011!
For the second time in a row, South Africa snatched the Mr. Gay World title. Charl Van Den Berg won the title last year when the pageant was held in Oslo, Norway. And just a while ago, he handed over the title to a fellow South African, 28-year-old Francois Nel.
The Philippines hosted this year's Mr. Gay World. Held at Club Wham! March 13, 2011, the pageant night was hosted by Precious Lara Quigaman, Wilma Doesnt, and Boy Abunda.
The Top 5 finalists were Australia, Spain, New Zealand, USA, and South Africa. Eventually, New Zealand became 4th runner-up, Australia was 3rd runner-up, Spain was 2nd runner-up, and USA almost made it but he fell short and became the 1st runner-up.
Mr. Gay Philippines, 24-year-old Marc Ernest Biala, won the Best in National Costume award. His costume consisted of a carabao on his back, complete with bilao and bayong.
I was kinda hoping he'd be at least included in the Top 5 but we have to face the fact that there are more goodlooking gays in the pageant. At least no one would accuse the organizers of being biased towards the home contestant.
