After 5 years, GMA-7 is remaking the hit action-fantasy television series, Captain Barbell.
Captain Barbell, which first came out as a komiks story, was first made into a television series by GMA-7 in 2006. It starred Richard Gutierrez as the fictional superhero and its alter ego named Teng-teng.
5 years later, the TV network remakes the series and again casts Richard Gutierrez in the lead role.
One of the changes made in the remake is Captain Barbell's costume. They changed the design and the color of the superhero outfit to make it more modernized. And they have to thank the Ravelos for allowing them to change the costume.
Another change in the story is that Captain Barbell's alter ego, Teng, is not a high school student anymore. He is now more matured, with more life experiences on his back.
Moreover, Captain Barbell isn't alone this time in fighting for the people. Other superheroes are destined to join him in his battles.
The cast include the leading ladies Solenn Heussaff, Lovi Poe, Isabel Oli, and Michelle Madrigal. Jillian Ward is also in the cast playing Captain Barbell's sidekick and pseudo adopted daughter.
Other cast members: TJ Trinidad, Bianca King, Sam Pinto, Mike Tan, Marky Lopez, Ces Quesada, Elvis Gutierrez, Paolo Paraiso, Frencheska Farr, Bea Binene, Jake Vargas, Ellen Adarna, and the Survivor Philippines Celebrity Showdown hotties Akihiro Sato, Ervic Vijandre, and Jon Hall.
What's more exciting about this remake is that the set and costume designs is being done by Peter Collias, the set designer of The Matrix and Moulin Rouge.
Mars Ravelo's Captain Barbell will premiere March 28, 2011 only on GMA-7.
