It's the first of the three games in the group qualifying tournament of the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup. The other countries the Azkals would have to win against are Palestine and Bangladesh. These two other games will also take place in Myanmar and if Myanmar won't allow it, we will also won't see these games live.
ABS-CBN Sports' official Facebook page issued this statement regarding the no-coverage issue:
We regret to inform the public that at this point, ABS-CBN Sports' contacts with the Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) are unlikely going to get the permit to beam the AFC Challenge Cup matches live via satellite to the Philippines. Negotiations are now underway for the broadcast rights and tape copies of MRTV's coverage of the Azkals' matches in Yangon.Based on the statement, at least there's hope that we could watch the game even in a delayed telecast.
Dyan Castillejo, though, is in Myanmar and is giving live updates on ABS-CBN's AM radio station DZMM as well as on ABS-CBN's news channel ANC.
As of this writing, the first half of the game has just finished but both teams are still scoreless.
Update:
ABS-CBN Sports' official Facebook page posted this on March 22, 2010:
Barring any flight delays, ABS-CBN Sports will air MYA-PHL match tom. March 23, at 10:15 p.m. (replay on Mar. 24, Thurs., 3 p.m.) on Studio 23. Video quality is far from the best as it was shot by MRTV.
