Kantar Media National TV Ratings (Jan. 15-18, 2016) - 'Be My Lady' debuts strongly

"It's Showtime" won against "Eat Bulaga!" for the fifth consecutive day on Friday, January 15, 2016, in the national television ratings based on Kantar Media's data.

The Kapamilya noontime show had won since Monday, Jan. 11, but the Kapuso program broke the streak on Saturday, Jan. 16, when it scored 18.4% versus "Showtime's" 16.7%.

'The Revenant' edges out 'Force Awakens' at the U.S. box-office on its opening day

With multiple wins at the recent Golden Globes and major nominations in the upcoming 88th Academy Awards,  film “The Revenant” starring Leonardo DiCaprio directed by Academy Award winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu is fiercely strong at the (U.S.) box-office  with an incredible opening (Friday, Jan. 8) of $14.4 million, edging out “Star Wars: The Force Awakens’” ($10.75 million) that day.


“The Revenant” best seen on the big screen, is on its way to $100 million with an estimated gross of $97 million to-date.  Inspired by true events, “The Revenant” is physically intense and emotionally gripping story of a man presumed to be dead but came back to life.  The legend of Hugh Glass, as he is regarded to be the revenant, someone who came back from the dead, is played by Leonardo DiCaprio.   Part thriller, part wilderness journey, The Revenant explores primal drives not only for life itself but for dignity, justice, faith, family and home.

"It's Showtime" is indeed on a winning streak over its rival program, "Eat Bulaga!"


The Vice Ganda-led noontime show outperformed the Kapuso program for the fourth day in a row on Thursday, January 14, 2016. It was despite the fact that Thursdays have always been a special day in "Eat Bulaga's" #KalyeSerye segment ever since the AlDub love team of Alden Richards and Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza was formed.

Jason Lee getting furryous with 'Alvin and the Chipmunks 4: The Road Chip'

"It's Showtime" continues its win over "Eat Bulaga!" as it outperformed the 36-year-old noontime show for the third consecutive day on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, based on Kantar Media's data.


One of the reasons why the Kapamilya noontime show is on a winning streak could be the show's new segment, "Tawag ng Tanghalan," which showcases the singing talents of its contestants.

Kantar Media National TV Ratings (Jan. 12, 2016) - "It's Showtime" beats "Eat Bulaga!" again

"It's Showtime" won over "Eat Bulaga!" in the national television ratings for the second day in a row on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, based on Kantar Media's data.

The Kapamilya noontime show scored 15.3% national rating against the Kapuso program's 15.2%. It was just 0.1%, but high enough to say that it won over the competition.

Kantar Media National TV Ratings (Jan. 1-11, 2016) - "It's Showtime" finally beats "Eat Bulaga!" after months

ABS-CBN's "It's Showtime" was finally able to beat GMA-7's "Eat Bulaga!" for the first time since the AlDub phenomenon hit the Kapuso noontime show, according to Kantar Media's data from January 1-11, 2016.

On Jan. 11 (Monday), the Vice Ganda-led noontime show scored 15.5% national rating against "Eat Bulaga's" 15.2%. A difference of just 0.3% but still enough to beat the 36-year-old program.

73rd Golden Globe Awards (2016) winners revealed - Lady Gaga, Sylvester Stallone, Kate Winslet, Matt Damon win top acting awards

The 73rd Golden Globe Awards (2016) was held morning of January 11 (Manila time) at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, where the best in television and movies of 2015 were recognized.

Mavi won the hearts of the panel of judges composed of Dennis Trillo, Valeen Montenegro and Christian Bautista, following the contest's criteria - 50% for personality, 40% for voice, and 10% for audience impact.

MMFF 2015 earns P1.002B in 13 days

A day before it completes its two-week run in Philippine cinemas, the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has breached the P1 billion gross mark as announced on the festival's Facebook page.


The eight official movie entries has posted a total gross earnings of P1.002 billion as of January 6, 2016, thirteen days after MMFF 2015 opened in cinemas nationwide on December 25.

MMFF 2015 earns P949M as of January 4

Despite the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2015 ranking released Monday night on ABS-CBN's TV Patrol, the latest box office results posted by the festival on its official Facebook page still has the top four movies in random order.

MMFF has revealed that as of January 4, 2016, the gross earnings of the eight movie entries has already totaled to P949 million. That's after eleven days of showing since the festival opened on December 25, 2015.

Kantar Media National TV Ratings (Dec. 11-18, 2015) - 'Probinsyano,' 'Eat Bulaga!' win

ABS-CBN's "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano" starring Coco Martin was the number one television program in the Philippines from December 11 to 18, 2015, based on Kantar Media's data.

It posted as high as 38.2% (Dec. 11) while its lowest during the time frame was 35.2% (Dec. 17), which, by the way was still the highest rating during that day.

MMFF 2015 highest grossing movie is 'Beauty and the Bestie'

The ranking of the top 4 highest grossing Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2015 movie entries was revealed on Monday (January 4, 2016) by ABS-CBN's "TV Patrol."


While MMFF announced that they will reveal the ranking and the individual gross of the entries after the festival's run on Jan. 7, the Kapamilya evening news already revealed the box office standing of the top 4 movies as of January 2, although without the breakdown of gross earnings.

MMFF 2015 earns P915M in 10 days

The gross earnings of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2015 as of January 3, 2016 has been posted on the festival's Facebook page.


According to the post, the eight official movie entries has already made P915 million in ten days, four days short of its two-week run.

MMFF 2015 9-day gross revealed

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2015, on its ninth day, has posted a gross earning of P834 million from its eight official entries. That's from December 25, 2015 to January 2, 2016, just five days short of its scheduled two-week run.


The MMFF 2015 entries had a boost in ticket sales during the New Year holiday. The reported gross as of Dec. 31 was P640M, with only P18M added from the previous day's gross (P622M). Come Jan. 1, however, P97M was added to the gross (P737M), as well as on Jan. 2 (P834M) which was the first Saturday of the year.

'Everything About Her' starring Angel Locsin, Xian Lim, Vilma Santos - Official Trailer released

Star Cinema has released the official trailer for the upcoming drama, "Everything About Her." Directed by Joyce Bernal, the movie stars Angel Locsin, Xian Lim and Vilma Santos.


Vilma plays the role of Vivian, a successful career woman who gets diagnosed with cancer. Jaica (Angel), assigned as her private nurse, will find a mother figure in her. The hardworking nurse's own mother has left her and her siblings and she has already given up on hoping that they will get to see her again.

MMFF 2015 reveals 8-day gross

Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2015 has already earned as much as P737 million as of Friday, January 1, 2016, according to their Facebook post. It was eight days after the eight movie entries opened in cinemas on December 25, 2015.


The MMFF usually has a two-week run in local cinemas. Last year, the film fest reported a gross earning of a little over a billion pesos at the end of its run.

MMFF 2015 earns P640M in 7 days

The eight official entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2015 has already raked in P640 million in gross earnings in just seven days (December 25-31).


The fans of the movie entries, however, are more excited to know the individual gross of the films but MMFF said they will be revealing the breakdown and box office standing after the festival run (January 7).
