Frank Chavez dies at 66

Atty. Francisco “Frank” Chavez passed away on Wednesday at the age of 66.

The former Solicitor General died of stroke at exactly 10:20 PM, September 11, 2013, at The Medical City where he had been confined since July.

He battled a recurring lymphoma for the past years. The disease has caused complications, which eventually led to a stroke.

His remains was cremated around 2:00 AM of Thursday. Interment will be on Sunday, Sept. 15, at The Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Frank Chavez was born February 6, 1947 in Bateria, Sagay, Negros Occidental. He graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines for his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1971. He passed the bar exams a year after his graduation.

In 1986, he was among the Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM), and in 1987, he was appointed by then president Corazon C. Aquino as Solicitor General.

After his service as SolGen in 1992, he became a private lawyer up until recently. The last cases he handled was Kris Aquino’s custody case for Bimby, her son with former husband James Yap.
