Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao lost to Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez by Technical Knock Out (TKO) during the fight held December 8, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The knock out came at 2:55 of Round 6, and we’ve never seen Pacquiao face down like that. He was actually out for quite a while.
Before that, however, the Pinoy boxer and politician was knocked down by Marquez’s punch on Round 3.
It was the fourth fight between Pacquiao and Marquez, with the first one (2004) ending in a draw and the second and third (2008 and 2011) won by Pacquiao.
During the interview after the fight, Pacquiao was asked if he wanted to fight Marquez again. “Yes, why not?” he answered. “It’s a good fight. I just got confident on that fight because I thought I got him.”
And does he want a fifth match with Marquez? “Well, if they give us chance, we’ll fight again,” he answered.
When asked to describe Marquez during their fourth fight, Pacquiao said the Mexican was a tough fighter.
“He’s not an easy opponent, he’s a tough fighter.”
“I did my best but you know, that’s boxing, that’s sports.”
And to that decisive punch that knocked him out, he said, “I just didn’t see his punches… I never expected that punch.”
