Jennifer Holliday was a guest at the Philippine Independence Day celebration of the Filipino community in Georgia.
The And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going singer became more popular among Pinoys when she had a duet with Jessica Sanchez during the American Idol 11 finale.
“I have felt connected with Jessica early on especially when she was in the bottom 3 and had gotten eliminated,” Jennifer Holliday told Balitang Amerika, a news program in ABS-CBN International’s The Filipino Channel (TFC).
When asked what’s her wish for Jessica, Jennifer said, “I wish for her that she will always have a balanced life. I think she has an exceptional instrument, and I think she knows exactly instinctly what to do.”
She also confessed that she wasn’t ready for the fame when she was just starting. “It happened so fast. I just was not ready. It was an overwhelming responsibility to be a young person in an adult world, carrying adults.” And that’s something she hopes wouldn’t happen to Jessica.
The 51-year-old singer also thanked her Filipino fans. “Thank you for your love and support during the time when Jessica and I were together on American Idol. We felt your love, we felt your support, and most importantly your prayers,” she said.
