Cesar Montano didn’t rape Sunshine Cruz, says actor’s lawyer

Cesar Montano’s lawyer, Atty. Joel Ferrer, denied that the actor raped his estranged wife on Mother’s Day.

In Unang Hirit on Wednesday, Ferrer and Atty. Bonifacio Alentajan (Sunshine’s lawyer) guested in the segment “Talakayan With Igan” regarding the recent charges filed by the actress against her former husband under Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act.

“Noong Mother’s Day na tinutukoy, na ginahasa siya, nung araw na yun, nag-text si Shine kay Cesar, inimbita para mag-dinner sila kasama ang mga bata. Nag-dinner ho yung pamilya,” Ferrer said on television.

He also said that Cesar was surprised about the rape charge because the ex-couple were okay even after Mother’s Day.

“After dinner, komo’t nag-enjoy naman sila, walang away e sa bahay ni Shine natulog si Cesar at kinabukasan na ho umuwi, umalis si Cesar doon. After that, marami pa ho silang exchanges ng texts, sweet nothings... so nagulat si Cesar.”

The lawyer even quoted Cesar as saying, “Ano’ng panggagahasa, e, dun ako natulog?”

Ferrer said they still have the text messages and they could use them as evidence.

Alentajan, meanwhile, insisted that his client was raped.

As with regards to Sunshine’s claim that she has been deprived communication to their kids who she hasn’t seen since July 29 because Cesar won’t give them back to her, Ferrer said it’s because the kids want to stay with their father.
