GMA-7 denies rumor that Manny Pangilinan has bought the Kapuso network

A rumor came out yesterday that Manny Pangilinan of TV5 has offered a mind-boggling deal to acquire GMA-7. (Read story here.)

It instantly became a hot item on social networking sites and on the comment sections of some blogs.

Others thought TV5 and GMA-7 were indeed going to merge. While some felt sad about it, others were happy with the thought of the two networks merging into one bigger television station.

But GMA-7 released a statement earlier today to deny the rumors and therefore ending the discussions (some even heated) about it.

The Kapuso network has this to say:

"There is no truth to the rumor going around in social media sites and the internet that Mr. Manny Pangilinan has bought GMA Network. In fact, there is no negotiation going on between GMA and Mr. Pangilinan regarding the latter’s acquisition of GMA-7."
