In celebration of its crystal year, Miss Earth announced on Monday, June 22, 2015, that this year's pageant will be held in Austria.
The announcement was made on the Miss Earth Facebook page, saying:
In Celebration of its Crystal Year, We are officially announcing that MISS EARTH 2015 will be held in AUSTRIA! More details soon.
This is only the second time the international pageant is going to be held outside the Philippines.
From 2001 to 2009, and from 2011 to 2014, Miss Earth was held in the Philippines.
In 2010, it was held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, where Miss India Nicole Faria bested 83 other candidates for the crown.
This year, the Philippines will be sending Angelia Ong to Austria to compete for the crown and hope for a back-to-back win.
Our country's Jamie Herrell currently holds the title.
