Julia Barretto hasn't withdrawn petition to drop dad Dennis Padilla's surname

Dennis Padilla said that his daughter, Julia Barretto, haven't withdrawn her petition to drop his surname (Baldivia) from her name.

The young actress has already announced it in a presscon that she no longer wants to change her name, but Dennis said she hasn't done any legal action to do that.

“Nung huli akong nagtanong kay Julia, sabi ko, 'Julia I heard that you announced na you will be withdrawing the petition to take off my family name.' tapos sabi niya, 'Pa, I'm sorry kasi I'm so busy I haven't talked to the lawyers. Pero hindi nman kikilos yung lawyers mo ng walang utos ng kliyente," the comedian said when asked about the issue during the press conference for the movie "The Breakup Playlist" which he is a part of.

He also said that Julia is already an adult and can already do what she wants.

"Hindi na puwedeng pigilan si Julia ngayon. 18 na yun eh. Pagka-gusto niya puwede naman. 18 na siya. Ang sa akin Julia is old enough. Ngayon pag tinanggal nila yung apelyido ko, kayo na mag-interpret dun," he said.

He further said that his other daughter, Claudia, also wants to drop his surname that's why he attends two separate hearings.

"Magkahiwalay yung petition so I'm attending sa dalawang hearing. Iba yung hearing kay Julia, iba yung hearing kay Claudia. Kaya I have two lawyers also,” he said.
