American Idol 11 winner Phillip Phillips’ surgery has been postponed, according to TMZ.
The reschedule of the kidney surgery was due to the high fever brought about by a bad sinus infection. TMZ also reported that the surgery will push through early next week, given that the singer doesn’t have fever anymore.
Phillip has a serious congenital kidney condition that he previously had 8 surgeries to treat his right kidney.
During the American Idol competition, Phillip had to wear a kidney stent. It was painful and was reportedly the reason why he walked like an old man.
Phillip Phillips was declared the winner of American Idol 11 last May 23. He triumphed over the 16-year-old powerhouse Jessica Sanchez, to the dismay of the Filipino-Mexican’s fans all over the world.
The winning song, Home, given to Phillip was probably what made him win. Many think it was so far the best winning song American Idol ever had, compared to Jessica’s pop ballad titled Change Nothing that lacked personality and wasn’t able to showcase much of her singing style that we all loved.
Others say, however, that America voted for Phillip out of sympathy because they know he was ill.
But then Jessica wasn’t bitter about losing. She said Phillip deserved to win not because she thinks she’s not good but because she believes that Phillip is an artist’s artist.
“He sang so many different songs and every song that he sang it sounds like Phillip,” Jessica said about Phillip’s win. “It always sounds like him, and that’s what it takes to be a real artist. And I’m so proud of him and I’m so happy with him.”
But being sick like that, will he able to pull it off for the Idol tour?
Let’s all wish Phillip good luck with his health and may his surgery next week be successful.
