In a tribute to Filipino-Mexican Jessica Sanchez who finished second place in the recent season of American Idol, Angeline Quinto did the song And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going last Sunday, May 27, on ASAP 2012.
And perhaps inspired by Jennifer Holiday’s (who sang with Jessica during the finals) gospel style of singing, Angeline did it in a version that created a negative stir among netizens, thus, making her trend on Twitter last Sunday.
Her diction was bad, but it was her delivery that actually made those who were able to watch it cringe.
I’m sure, though, that it wasn’t Angeline’s first time to sing the said song. Being a singing contest veteran that she is, And I Am Telling You is a song frequently sung on amateur contests here in the Philippines.
Was she so stressed with promoting Born To Love You, her upcoming movie with Coco Martin, that it showed in her performance?
