AI 11: Phillip Phillips wins!

After a nationwide vote, Georgia native Phillip Phillips was declared the winner of American Idol 11.

The 21-year-old musician impressed America with his performances of Stand By Me, Movin’ Out and Home during the finale performance show that was held yesterday.

With the win, Phillip gets a recording contract and gets to record Home as his first official single as an American Idol 11 champion.

A record-breaking 132 million votes were cast and most believe that Phillip’s being critically ill (he reportedly has kidney problems) made America vote for him more than runner-up, Filipino-Mexican Jessica Sanchez.
