The Top 4 of “The Voice Kids Philippines” season 2 – Team Lea’s Reynan Dal-anay and Esang De Torres, and Team Bamboo’s Elha Nympha and Sassa Dagdag - sang their hearts out for the text votes during the first part of the reality show’s grand finals on Saturday, August 29, 2015.
Aired live from the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila, the talented young artists were cheered on by their supporters and respective families and coaches.
It’s sad that no one from coach Sarah Geronimo’s team made it to the finale, but she was there, nonetheless, to support the finalists.
The show opened with a production number from the first season’s Top 4 – Juan Karlos Labajo, Darlene Vibares, Darren Espanto and Lyca Gairanod – together with the current season’s finalists.
JK has grown and is becoming every bit a heartthrob. He is proof that being 2nd runner-up is not bad at all. He doesn’t just have an album, he now also acts.
Reynan, Elha, Esang and Sassa first had their duets with celebrities, and the celebs that performed with them are the host and judges of “Your Face Sounds Familiar” which is airing its second season very soon.
Reynan’s “Babalik Ka Rin” duet with Gary Valenciano was inspiring, especially with some of the young singer’s tribe members dancing in the audience.
Elha had a duet with Jed Madela to the tune of the love song “Narito.” No one, IMHO, can outshine Jed, but the kid didn’t let being star struck affect her singing. She confessed that the “YFSF” judge is one of her idols in singing.
Meanwhile, Esang showed the viewers that she is indeed just 8 years old by singing the chill song “Count On Me” with Billy Crawford. It was a simple song, but Esang’s chops still showed.
Last in the duet performances was Sassa who did “Ikaw” with Sharon Cuneta. Some parts of the verses were a little low for the young artist but she was still able to inject her trademark runs.
The Top 4 had their back-to-back upbeat numbers next.
Esang did “Dancing Queen” and as always, she performed like a pro. Sassa did “Starships” and it was young and fun, just like her outfit. Reynan did “Toyang” and while you can hear his nerves in some parts of the song, the ending was spectacular. Elha was the last to perform with “Emotions” which showcased her abilities to do the high notes.
