“The X Factor PH” Grand Finals performance show

It’s the grand finals’ performance show of The X Factor Philippines and the Final 3 remaining contestants were all pumped up for their last performance as the season’s contestants.

Gabriel Maturan, KZ Tandingan and Daddy's Home

Fans of KZ Tandingan of Digos City, Gabriel Maturan of Dapitan, and Daddy’s Home of Marikina filled the PAGCOR Grand Theater. Live and television viewers were treated to a spectacular number as the three performed with Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha who arrived from Hawaii just yesterday.

Daddy’s Home of the Groups Category mentored by Gary Valenciano was the first to perform. They did the inspirational Gaya Ng Dati which is an original of their mentor. The group was so full of harmony and the performance was goosebump-y, although there was a part where one of them got a little shaky it was just somehow overpowered by the applause.

Second to perform was Gabriel Maturan of the Boys Category mentored by Martin Nievera. He’s evidently more confident now compared to when the live shows started and it really showed in his performance. He sang Fantasia Barrino’s I Believe, putting his own style into the arrangement which was applauded by everyone and praised by the judges. It wasn’t as powerful considering that it’s a grand finals song but as Gary said, Gab sang with heart and soul and everyone who heard the performance felt it, and that’s all that matters.

Last performer was KZ Tandingan who did a very moving performance of Karen Carpenter’s Superstar. The voice was clear, was full of emotions and was one of a kind. Her vocal dynamics was exceptional despite the fact that she admits she cannot belt out like she used to because of a previous illness. The arrangement of the song was really done to bring out the best out of her, and KZ did the most out of it.

There were a lot of guest performers tonight, and the best ones at that. Vina Morales proved once again that she can sing and dance with the Jennifer Lopez medley. I hope she gets to have a solo concert soon.

Nina performed Through The Fire with Daddy’s Home and the judges were raving about how high the group’s voices were but the notes were actually turned a couple of notches lower when it was Daddy’s Home’s turn to sing the high notes.

Rico J. Puno sang with KZ Tandingan doing The Way We Were (Rico’s version). Rico’s comment after the performance: “Feeling ko nga may gusto na rin si Charice kay KZ.” He said it when Pilita Corales told him to leave KZ alone, considering his reputation with women. It was said in a funny note, though, and Pilita and Rico know each other personally. The thing was, Rico somehow voiced out what others cannot seem to say to Charice in person.

Lastly, Gabriel Maturan sang with Bamboo. Gab let his hair down with their performance of The Script’s The Man Who Can’t Be Moved with a Leaving On A Jet Plane twist.
