Vin Abrenica and Sophie Albert were declared Best Actor and Best Actress respectively in the grand finals of Artista Academy dubbed as Awards Night held live at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on October 27, 2012.
Vin made quite a noise for being the brother of Kapuso hunk Aljur Abrenica, but proved during the competition that he also has the talents needed to make it in showbiz. He was dubbed as the “Singing Hunk of Pampanga.”
Sophie, on the other hand, is the girl-next-door type known in the competition as the “Artistic Chick of Mandaluyong.” She was a consistent front-runner from day one.
Vin and Sophie bested 4 other hopefuls that made it to the finals – Akihiro Blanco, Chanel Morales, Mark Neumann and Shaira Mae.
The Best Actor and Best Actress each received a trophy especially crafted by Leeroy New, a condominium unit at Lakefront in Sucat, 1 million pesos, Toyota Innova and exclusive TV5 contract with a minimum guarantee of P5 million.
Eddie Garcia presented the Best Actress award while Nora Aunor presented the Best Actor award. The winners also became the new Close Up ambassadors.
The judges throughout the competition were Mac Alejandre, Gelli de Belen, Lorna Tolentino and Wilma Galvante.
Meanwhile, the criteria for judging included the contestants’ accumulated average for the past three weeks since they were narrowed down to final 6 (40%), grades for their performance during the Awards Night (40%), and text votes (20%).
The Top 6 and the Tropang Kickout (eliminated contestants) will all star in a new series titled Forever Barkada (FB) that will soon air on TV5.
