Miss International 2012 is Miss Japan Ikumi Yoshimatsu

Miss Japan Ikumi Yoshimatsu was crowned Miss International 2012 in the pageant held at the Okinawa Prefectural Budokan Arena Building in Naha, Okinawa, Japan on Sunday, October 21.

Yoshimatsu bested 68 other beautiful contestants from around the globe, also getting the special award of Miss Photogenic.

The 2011 winner Fernanda Cornejo of Ecuador crowned Yoshimatsu.

Miss Japan’s winning the pageant held in her own country followed that of Miss China’s winning Miss World 2012 in her own country as well.

Other contestants who made it to the Top 5 were:

  • 1st runner-up – Viivi Suominen (Finland)
  • 2nd runner-up – Madusha Mayadunne (Sri Lanka)
  • 3rd runner-up – Melody Mir (Dominican Republic)
  • 4th runner-up – Nicole Huber (Paraguay)

  • Paulina Malulu (Namibia)
