Kapamilya actor Matt Evans got out of jail on Monday, the day of his birthday, after posting a P200 bail.
He was arrested and spent a little less than 48 hours inside the Pasig City detention cell after his live-in partner Johnelline Hickins filed a complaint of physical assault Saturday night.
Star Magic representatives and legal counsels immediately came to Matt’s aid, but being weekend, he wasn’t able to immediately post bail. He was able to get out on bail around 5:30 PM on Monday.
Reports say Matt went straight to his mother’s house in Quezon City.
Matt was seen in an interview with Boy Abunda. It will be aired this coming Sunday on The Buzz.
The actor also talked to the media on Tuesday and he denied that he physically hurt his partner.
“Hindi ho ako mananakit ng basta-basta, hindi ho ako nananakit, di ho mabigat ang kamay ko,” Matt said.
To confirm the statement of his lawyer, he said that it was Johnelline who first got a knife.
Matt also said that they have been having misunderstandings for a week before the incident that ended in his arrest. And as for the reported surprise birthday party Johnelline and her brother were preparing for the actor: “Mali ‘yon e. Aawayin mo muna ta’s meron kang surprise. Parang pinaglalaruan mo ‘yong emosyon ng tao.
Matt is facing charges for violation of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children and physical injuries, but he hopes to get his name cleared as the legal process progresses.
