The Tulfo brothers Erwin, Ben and Raffy made remarks last Monday over their show T3: Kapatid, Sagot Kita! regarding the brawl that their elder brother Mon got involved into at the NAIA Terminal 3.
The remarks, aimed at celebrity couple Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto who was shown on a YouTube video assaulting Mon at the airport, were perceived as threats by Raymart and Claudine and was interpreted as such by television viewers.
“Light a candle our paths will never meet,” was what Raffy said, addressing Raymart as Raymart Barretto and calling him “anak ng P.I.”
“Kapag nagpaabot tayo sa NAIA Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3, tatamaan at tatamaan ka.
Ben, on the other hand, said, "Kung ang gusto mo... Malaking warehouse, sarado, naghihintay ang ambulansiya. Last man standing,” obviously addressing Raymart.
Erwin also had something to say. "We're not done. Just wait," he quipped.
Erwin, however, apologized on Tuesday over his TV5 program Punto Asintado in behalf of his two brothers, saying the remarks they said Monday were just emotional outbursts over the incident.
They said Mon himself, as well as their mother, didn’t approve of what they did.
TV5 also condoned the act and released a statement that read as follows:
News5 assures the public and all parties concerned that the statements made by the Tulfo brothers brothers in its program, T3, last May 7, 2012, were unscripted, spontaneous, and do not in any way reflect the stand nor the policy of the network, its management, staff and employees. While we understand the emotions at play during the broadcast, News5 does not and will never condone such behavior. It was not only uncalled for but runs counter to the established Code of Ethics that we all strictly adhere to.
We are taking necessary actions to deal with this lapse in judgment on the part of the Tulfo brothers and assure the public that we remain committed to objective and impartial journalism.
