Toni Gonzaga hosted last night's Bb. Pilipinas 2015 pageant together with Xian Lim. Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up Ariella "Ara" Arida, meanwhile, was a co-presenter together with Shacey Supsup (Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up) and Venus Raj (Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up).
Ariella's pronunciation of the English dialect has always been an issue since she won Bb. Pilipinas two years ago. Many also said she was not articulate enough to make it in the Miss Universe pageant, but she proved them wrong when she got into the top five and eventually placed 3rd runner-up to Venezuela's Gabriela Isler.
Last night, Ara seemed excited and happy, even overwhelmed, and she seemed not able to pronounce the letter S right. Those things didn't escape the critical eyes (and ears) of some netizens who expressed their thoughts on social media.
Meanwhile, Toni's jokes during the interview round didn't sit well with everyone. At one point, she noticed a candidate's dangling earrings and said: "Your earrings has its own theme song - Chandelier!" Then she proceeded to sing a part of the chorus of the popular song by Sia.
She was also asked by Xian what her thoughts were to the question about marriage that has been answered by another candidate, and she answered it by saying: "You don't marry a person because he is successful. You'll marry him because he is faithful."
To add to that, she also remarked on a judge's question about winning for actress Teresita Ssen Marquez, saying the question is related to the contestant because her nickname is Winwyn.
Some of the netizens who have watched the coronation night said Toni's hosting is inappropriate for a formal event.
Even Albay Governor Joey Salceda took to Facebook to post his thoughts about the hosts.
Lada is the Bicolano word for "sili."
Joey Salceda recently made showbiz headlines for criticizing Xian Lim's alleged refusal to wear a shirt promoting Albay.
