Jason Dy of Team Sarah was named the grand winner of "The Voice of the Philippines" season 2 on Sunday, March 1, 2015. He beat Alisah Bonaobra of Team Apl who also made it to the Top 2.
Jason got 52.94% of public votes when the lines were opened after the Top 2 artists performed their final song. He sang the OPM ballad "Minsan Lang Kitang Iibigin" against Alisah's powerful rendition of "All By Myself." The latter only got 47.06%.
The Top 2 were determined by the accumulated public votes when the voting lines were opened after each of the two rounds on Saturday, and another couple of times on Sunday. Leah Patricio of Team Lea and Rence Rapanot of Team Bamboo failed to make it.
The votes were reset to zero for the Top 2, and after Jason and Alisah's final performances, the voting lines were opened for the final time.
The final results of "The Voice PH" season 2 proved that the standards of viewers when it comes to singing are changing. Now, it's not just the contestant's ability to "birit" that will win the viewers' hearts.
Alisah belted out her piece and cleanly hit her high notes in a performance worthy of confetti to end the season, but Jason's musicality, control and technique cannot be overlooked. His runs were perfect and his falsettos were clean. And while the televiewers knew that he wants to impress for the votes, Jason didn't over sing. He just sang with his heart to touch the hearts of those watching. As a result, he got majority of the viewers' votes and won the whole thing.
As "The Voice of the Philippines" season 2 winner, Jason received a trophy designed and crafted by contemporary artist Leeroy New, a house and lot worth P2 million, a music instrument package worth P100,000, shopping spree and Asian tour package worth P350,000, a business package worth P1 million, a new car worth P1 million, a recording and management contract with MCA Music, and P2 million in cash.
