Miss Colombia Paulina Vega was named the 63rd Miss Universe (2014) on Sunday, January 25th (Monday morning in Manila) in Florida, USA. The pageant night hosted by Natalie Morales and Thomas Roberts with Jeannie Mai.
Paulina Vega, 22, bested 87 other contestants, including the Philippines’ Mary Jean Lastimosa, 27, who went as far as the Top 10.
Miss USA Nia Sanchez was 1st runner-up; Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha was 2nd runner-up; Miss Netherlands Yasmin Verheijen was 3rd runner-up; and Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell was 4th runner-up.
The Top 5 were determined with the scores the contestants got from the pageant judges during the evening gown segment. Among the judges were Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, Emilio Estefan, Rob Dyrdeck, Lisa Vanderpump, Nina Garcia, William Levy, and Giancarlo Stanton.
The Top 10, meanwhile, were picked after the swimsuit segment. They were (as announced):
