Miss Universe 2014 livestream updates

The Miss Universe 2014 coronation night is happening right now at the FIU Arena in Florida, USA.

From 88 beautiful candidates, the Top 15 semi-finalists have been determined, and early favorites Miss Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa, Miss Colombia Paulina Vega, and Miss Venezuela Migbelis Lynette Castellanos are all in the list.

Latin sensation Prince Royce performed while the Top 15 paraded in their Yamamay for Miss Universe collection swimwear and Chinese Laundry footwear.

After the swimsuit round, the Top 10 was announced.

American actor, singer and songwriter Nick Jonas performed a medley of his songs including the hit, “Jealous,” while the Top 10 show off their evening gowns. Nick added drama to his performance by going down the stage to the front row where Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo was sitting.

Miss Universe has a new crown, made by DIC, worth US$300,000. It was inspired by the New York City skyline which is the home of Miss Universe.

Special awards were handed out:

Miss Congeniality Universe - Nigeria
Miss Photogenic Universe - Puerto Rico
National Costume Fan Vote Winner - Indonesia

Top 5:

1. Miss USA Nia Sanchez
2. Miss Netherlands Yasmin Verheijen
3. Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha
4. Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell
5. Miss Colombia Paulina Vega

The Top 5 answered questions from the judges. Miss USA Nia Sanchez picked boxing champ Manny Pacquiao whose accent made it a little hard for Nia to understand the question. Same went for Miss Netherlands Yasmin Verheijen and Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell who made judges Giancarlo Stanton and Emilio Estefan, respectively, repeat their questions.

After the Q&A from the judges, the Top 5 answered a common question from Facebook. Maria Navarro Fernandez’s question was picked. She asks: “What is the greatest contribution of your country to the entire world?”

USA said her country gives back as much as it can, and Netherlands say art and history. Ukraine, meanwhile, say her country is in a difficult time and they have to focus their energies on supporting their armies and rebuilding schools. Jamaica said Bob Marley (music), while Colombia said it’s how they persevere and strive for their goals.

Gavin DeGraw performed a couple of his hit singles for the final look. Jamaica got one of the loudest cheers from the live audience.

The results are in and at any moment, Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler is passing on the crown to the 63rd Miss Universe (2014) winner.
