"The Voice of the Philippines" coach Lea Salonga refused to comment on the controversial removal of a contestant in the singing reality show as announced last Sunday.
Towards the end of coach Bamboo Mañalac team's Knockouts episode, the Pinoy Rock icon announced that Joniver Robles, who originally made it through to the live shows, would no longer be part of the program. He was replaced by Rita Martinez, the artist that was eliminated from his group during their round.
Bamboo cited "personal reasons" as the cause of Joniver's removal.
It became controversial, however, when the former contestant posted on Facebook that he didn't know about his removal until he saw it on national TV.

The real reason for Joniver's removal is yet to be revealed, although some netizens say it was because Joniver posted on social media that he got through to the live shows even before it was announced on TV. It is reportedly in their contract that they cannot reveal the results before it was revealed on TV or announced by the management.
Meanwhile, Lea was mum on the matter when ABS-CBN News asked her about it during an interview in a recent event.
"If it's got nothing to do with my team, I'm hands off," the award-winning singer-actress said. "If it happened in my team, I'll have something to say."
But does she regret Joniver's removal from the competition?
"It's hard kasi it would depend on the circumstances. If it's something that the show is at fault, then that's one thing. But if it's something where the contestant mismo 'yung at fault, and if they did something wrong, then it's like sinayang na opportunity. It really depends on what the circumstances are," the Broadway Diva said.
"The Voice of the Philippines" will begin its live shows on Saturday, January 24, 2015, with the Top 6 from each team competing for the chance to be the season 2 winner.
